OUR VALUES:    The beauty of Big Sky, comprised of its broad vistas, natural

                          surroundings, free-flowing waters, and abundant wildlife.

  We prize our easy accessibility to this land.          

                          The environmental purity of Big Sky.  The clean air

                          and uncontaminated water supply, along with the natural cleansing

                          brought by a new winter and emerging spring.

                          Planned and managed growth that protects the beauty of Big Sky,

                          promotes a self-sufficient community, preserves the environment,

                          enriches our lives and creates economic opportunity for individuals    

                          and families.

  Big Sky’s quality of life.  We treasure personal relationships,

  stewardship of the land, community involvement, educational and

  spiritual opportunities and cultural and artistic diversity in an

  atmosphere that supports individuals and families.  We honor the

  traditions and history of the West and values of Montana.

OUR MISSION:   To identify and address those priorities that may strengthen

                          or threaten our vision and values.

 OUR PRIORITIES: 

·        Assure water availability.

·        Promote efficient traffic and transportation networks.

·        Preserve visual aesthetics – ridgelines, viewsheds, the sense of open space, dark skies, development consistent with the natural surroundings (style, signage, color, etc.)

·        Preserve and protect environmental quality – land, air and water.

·        Promote an ethic that appreciates wildlife and provides for its safety in developed areas.

·        Establish a community structure that allows residents to affect what happens.

·        Enact an information exchange strategy to inform Big Sky citizens     about development plans, government oversight and the decision-making process.

·        Define the existing and projected Big Sky community.

·        Formulate and communicate a code of good citizenship for Big Sky.

·        Establish an interim, and formulate a long term, authorized structure to oversee and enforce regulated growth, regulations and zoning plans in the Big Sky area.
